Aims: The aim of this study was to investigate the prediction of mental well-being and loneliness based on mindfulness and self-compassion among divorced students.
Methodology: The research design was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of this study includes all divorced female students of Payam Noor university of Tehran who were studying for a master's degree in 2020. In this study, 90 participants were selected by voluntary sampling. The research instruments were Keys and Magyarmo Mental Wellness Questionnaire, Russell, Pilva and Cortona Loneliness Questionnaire, Nef Self-Compassion Questionnaire and Bauer et al. Mindfulness Questionnaire.
Results: The results showed that the feeling of loneliness could not be significantly predicted through mindfulness and compassion. Also, mental well-being could not be significantly predicted through mindfulness. Finally, self-compassion was able to explain 7% of the variance related to mental well-being (P=0.007).
Conclusion: People who have more compassion for themselves, create an emotional balance and increase their well-being.
